This bespoke custom Continental was originally a sedan, has been transformed into a “LID-LESS” show car ready to hit the road and provide an unforgettable experience. TO BE CLEAR, THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE A TOP OF ANY KIND.

 

Powered by the 430 cubic inch MEL V8, it produces a respectable 320 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque, ample for an enjoyable night out. The power is channeled to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. This reborn Lincoln is shod with 22”x9.5” Verde® Allusion™ chrome wheels wearing 265/35R22 Fullway® HS288 performance rubber.

 

Inside, the expansive front and rear bench seats are upholstered in two-tone, frenched double-stitched black and red leather with split backrests and armrests, offering comfort and elegance. Original equipment included air conditioning as well as power side and wing windows. Resting behind the black, leather-wrapped Lecarra™ steering wheel with polished aluminum spokes, the instrumentation features a horizontal 120-mph speedometer with a trip odometer, along with auxiliary gauges for Fuel, Oil, Amps, and Temp. A Magnaflow® dual exhaust handles the spent gasses and gives it a deep, muscle-car rumble. Recent maintenance, performed in August 2023 at Osprey Custom Cars, includes a new fuel sender, fuel filter, battery, and carburetor.

The 1965 Lincoln Continentals are often regarded as the pinnacle of the series, embodying the quintessence of true luxury cars: exclusivity, style, quality, prestige, and presence. This design established the iconic "Lincoln look" that became immediately recognizable as a Lincoln Continental. The 1965 version marked the final iteration of the classic body style introduced in 1961. Over the years, careful updates maintained a fresh appearance for each new model while preserving the original design's integrity. The need for more interior space in 1964 led to exterior and interior styling changes, all aimed at enhancing functionality while preserving the Continental’s essence.

 

As part of the 1965 redesign, the front turn signals and parking lights were relocated from the bumpers to wraparound lenses on the front fenders. Similar parking lights and turn signals were incorporated at the rear, all with metal trim that harmonized with the horizontal lines of the new grille. These alterations set the '65 models apart. Despite these changes, the Continental's timeless elegance remained intact, with minimal chrome trim to detract from its design. Lincoln defied the norm by maintaining this level of design consistency for five years in the 1960s. In addition, front seat belts with retractors became standard. To improve braking performance, the Continental was given Kelsey-Hayes® disc brakes for the front wheels and this Conti has also been upgraded with rear disc brakes.
