2002 Pontiac Firebird Firehawk

$29,950 USD

Signature Autosports is proud to present this rare 2002 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am SLP Firehawk. Owning a Firehawk is owning a special piece of history… and this one can be YOURS!

Depending on whom you talk to, either 1,334 or 1,501 of the SLP Firehawks were built in 2002. This super-clean example features the classic muscle car combination of black over articulating black leather seats and interior. With only 76,056 miles on the odometer, this Firehawk has plenty of love to give and lots of shows and cruises in its future.

Powering the 2002 Firehawk is a 345 horsepower 5.7L (348 cu. in.) LS1 V8 engine that is mated to a BorgWarner T56 6-speed manual transmission. The power is shifted to the limited-slip PosiTraction rear axle with 3.42 gears. The black leather interior is in fantastic condition, as are the carpet, dash, and interior trim pieces. Since in our possession, we've replaced the weatherstripping, plugs and wires, and suspension bushings. The 255/35ZR18 front and 275/35ZR18 rear Nitto tires are virtually new.

The Firebird Trans Am Firehawk was a special-edition extra-performance package produced by SLP Engineering, Inc., that was ordered and sold through Pontiac dealerships. They were available from 1993 to 1997 and 1999 to 2002. The package included a composite hood with functional cold air induction scoops and heat extractors, 17” X 9” five-spoke aluminum wheels (upgraded 18” wheels on this car), performance stainless steel exhaustupgraded suspension components (including Bilstein shocks), and “Firehawk” badging and decals throughout.

This was the 302nd Firehawk to roll out of the Pontiac plant in 2002, it is a very well-cared-for car that will not disappoint. It is ready to be loved by a new owner and showed off to her peers. With the T-Tops off, wind in your hair, and the short-throw 6-speed shifter in your hand, you'll feel the essence of true American muscle in your soul once again.

According to MotorTrend, the most popular year in SLP's successful 11-year run of Firehawks was 2002. What began in 1992, in the last year of the Third-Gen Firebirds, with only 25 production examples, grew by leaps and bounds into 2002's offering of 1,501 Ram Air-equipped SLP Firehawks. For most people, the SLP factory-sanctioned package offered plenty of horsepower. The Firehawk had the highest output LS1 engine of any 4th Gen Trans Am, rated at 345HP with the high-flow induction system (345 ponies is nothing to sneeze at!) and also included a short-throw Hurst shifter, a throaty muscle car exhaust, and the classic “Firehawk” hood and decals. It was the best Firebird you could buy at that time.

Here's the breakdown of the options included on this vehicle:

SLP OPTIONS
Auburn, High Torque, Performance Differential w/AAM cast aluminum cooling cover — A combination of leading-edge Auburn Gear and American Axle Manufacturing technology enhances traction and helps reduce differential operating temperatures under certain driving conditions. The system detects variance in the gripping force of each rear tire and redistributes the engine load as road conditions change, thereby enhancing vehicle performance and stability.

Chrome Wheels — Upgraded 18"x 9" chrome-plated, five-spoke aluminum wheels. SLP originally offered chrome Speedline wheels as an option in 1995, but never delivered any. SLP moved to American Racing Equipment rims in 1996 and started delivering the chrome option.

Deck-lid Spoiler — painted body color with high mounted stop lamp (only available on Trans Am V87X model). This aggressive all-new aerodynamic Firehawk design complements the aggressive all-new forced air induction hood. Includes an all-new integrated neon stop lamp.

SLP 1LE Suspension Package — This performance suspension system, offered exclusively by SLP, includes double adjustable Koni Shocks. (n/a on convertible or with Bilstein Suspension Package). The 1LE suspension is back and is now offered exclusively by SLP. It included Koni double adjustable front and rear shocks allowing you to "tune" your suspension to your specific handling needs. The front upper and lower control arms are tightened up with stiffer rubber bushings. The hollow 35mm front swaybar significantly reduced body roll. The package included revised endlinks, reinforced body mount brackets, and firmer bushings. The rear lower control arms were fitted with firmer bushings to reduce wheel hop under heavy acceleration. The larger 21mm rear swaybar and bushings decreased body roll. The package also included a Koni shock adjustment tool.
