Now available from Signature Autosports, this 1984 Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler has been thoughtfully updated with 5.3L V8 power, a 6L80 automatic transmission, fresh rust remediation, new Mercedes-Benz G Manufaktur Olive Green Metallic paint, LINE-X coated interior surfaces, modern lighting, upgraded suspension, and a long list of purposeful hardware.

A RARE LONG-WHEELBASE CJ
The CJ-8 Scrambler has always occupied a special place in Jeep history.

Produced from 1981 through 1986, the Scrambler offered a longer wheelbase, extended rear cargo area, removable top configuration, and a more versatile utility layout than the shorter CJ models that came before it.

For 1984, only 4,130 units are understood to have rolled off the Toledo, Ohio assembly line, with total CJ-8 production across all years remaining just under 30,000 units.

That scarcity matters.

The CJ-8 was never the common choice.

It was the more unusual one.

And today, that combination of rarity, open-air simplicity, and classic Jeep proportions has made the Scrambler increasingly appealing to collectors, drivers, and enthusiasts who want something more distinctive than a standard CJ.

FRESHLY REFINISHED WITH PURPOSE
This Scrambler has recently undergone comprehensive rust remediation, giving the build a stronger foundation before the finishing details were brought together.

The exterior has been refinished in Mercedes-Benz G Manufaktur Olive Green Metallic, a color that suits the CJ-8 exceptionally well—earthy, rugged, premium, and just modern enough without taking away from the vehicle’s original utility character.

Additional updates include a new hood, new windshield frame, new body mount bushings, new tailgate cables, chrome grille, RT Off-Road hood dress-up kit, RT Off-Road windshield hinges, and a full complement of new LED lighting, including headlamps, tail lamps, marker lamps, and signal lamps.

Inside and underneath, the interior surfaces and wheel wells have been coated in LINE-X for added durability and a clean, utilitarian finish.

Under the hood sits a 5.3L LC9 V8, producing approximately 315 horsepower and 348 lb-ft of torque.

Paired with a 6L80 automatic transmission, the powertrain gives this Scrambler a completely different character than its original factory configuration.

The engine installation was performed by Osprey Custom 4x4 in August 2019, and the vehicle shows approximately 9,212 miles since that work was completed. Due to its age, mileage is exempt from reporting in North Carolina.

STANCE, HARDWARE, AND TRAIL-READY DETAILS
The Scrambler’s stance comes from a Rough Country 4-inch suspension lift kit with Premium N3 shocks and leaf springs, paired with a Rough Country Premium N3 steering stabilizer.

Fifteen-by-ten U.S. Wheel 75 Series chrome 8-spoke wheels are wrapped in 33x12.50R15 BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3 tires, giving the Jeep the right mix of period-correct attitude, modern tire performance, and visual presence.

Functional exterior hardware includes a WARN Rock Crawler front bumper with D-ring eyelets and integrated 2-inch hitch receiver, WARN Rock Crawler rear bumper with integrated 2-inch hitch receiver, and Poison Spyder Rocker Knocker rock sliders.

Rubicon Express stainless steel brake hoses and Rugged Ridge brake hoses further support the build’s off-road-minded upgrades.

It looks right because the hardware makes sense.

CLASSIC OPEN-AIR UTILITY
Inside, the CJ-8 keeps the simple, straightforward character that made classic Jeeps so appealing in the first place, while adding useful comfort and durability upgrades.

The cabin features a new dash pad, new steering wheel, locking center console, JVC KD-X330BTS head unit, Rockford Fosgate speakers, RT Off-Road interior sunvisors, and a LINE-X coated interior for added resilience.

Seating has been upgraded with Bestop Spice TrailMax II Pro front seats and a Bestop Spice TrailMax II rear Fold-N-Tumble seat, along with Rugged Ridge fold-forward seat riser brackets for both front seats.

A full-length sport cage adds structure and visual presence, while the open layout preserves the Scrambler’s classic utility feel.
